Kadaga Endorses the EA Business Expo: A Game-Changer for the Region’s Integration and Business Growth

Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, the Minister in Charge of East African Community Affairs and First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, has shown support behind the upcoming East African Business Expo, calling it a critical step towards the integration of the East African region and a catalyst for business growth in the region. Speaking at her office in Kampala on Tuesday, 22nd of February 2023, Kadaga highlighted the importance of the event in promoting regional economic growth, peace, and collaboration.

The East African Procurement Forum and Business Expo is set to bring together the procurement regulators and experts from the seven East African countries, providing a unique platform for private companies to explore opportunities from the region as they showcase their services. The event will take place from 23rd to 26th March, 2023, at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala Uganda.

According to Moses Agaba, CEO of Fathil International Projects Limited, who are the Expo’s organizer, “The expo will allow businesses to network and potentially form partnerships, which will help to strengthen the regional business community and foster economic integration.”

Benson Tumuramye, Executive Director for Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Uganda (PPDA), also emphasized the expo’s significance in promoting regional trade and attracting investors from within and outside the region. “The expo will provide a platform for businesses from the East African Community (EAC) to showcase their products and services, and this will raise awareness of the various goods and services available. This has the potential to boost economic growth and create more job opportunities in the region,” he noted.

Tumuramye further added that the forum would facilitate knowledge transfer by providing a platform for businesses to share best practices and learn from one another, improving the competitiveness of businesses in the region and boosting the EAC’s overall economic performance.

In her endorsement of the event, Kadaga highlighted the importance of the East African Business Expo in promoting the integration of the East African region and creating more opportunities for businesses to grow. She acknowledged that the event aligned well with the ministry’s agenda of integrating the region, and expressed her confidence that the expo would play a crucial role in the region’s economic development and collaboration.

The  East African Business Expo promises to be a game-changer and represents a significant milestone towards achieving regional integration, promoting business growth and collaboration across the seven East African countries.
