PPDA, CEOs, Expo team pay courtesy visit to Rebecca Kadaga

PPDA executive director, Benson Tumuramye, together with the country CEOs of partner procurement countries of Kenya and Tanzania and Fathil International projects Limited, the Expo organiser partner, have  paid a courtesy call to the 1st Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga to update her on the progress of the Forum and the Expo.

Mr. Tumuramye informed Hon. Kadaga that at the 13th East African Procurement Forum held in 2021, Kigali Rwanda, Uganda was selected to host the 14th EAPF.  The theme for this year’s forum is, “Open Contracting as a vehicle for Sustainable Development.” The Procurement Forum brings together the public procurement regulatory bodies from the seven East African Community partner states with the main aim of sharing knowledge and consolidating efforts towards improving the public procurement practice in the region.

Hon. Kadaga also learnt that for the very first time, the East African Business Expo will be running concurrently alongside the Forum with the aim of bridging the gap between suppliers and the buyers who are mainly the public institutions that procure the goods and service.

“We have always had The East African Procurement Forum every year, but without opening up the platform to suppliers. This year, we have partnered with FIPRO, who will organize the business expo alongside the procurement forum over a four-day period”. Tumuramye said.

Agaba Moses, CEO, FIPRO, explained that the expo is an opportunity for East Africa to shine and to showcase what it has to offer to the world.

He added that the Expo is an opportunity for those looking to do business with government institutions and agencies as well as international agencies in the East African Community.

“Suppliers from the 7-member states of the East African community (EAC) will have an opportunity to engage with hundreds of procurement professionals at the highest level and learn more about their requirements and how to meet their needs. It is also an opportunity to be part of discussions regarding sourcing and doing business in the East African community,” added Mr. Agaba

Over 500 exhibitors are expected to showcase their products and services including the latest innovations and best practice.

The East African Procurement Forum and Business Expo will be held from 23rd to 26th March, 2023 at Kololo Independence Grounds, Kampala Uganda.
