PPDA partners with Fipro to introduce the first ever East African Business Expo

The Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) is teaming up with Fathil International Projects (Fipro Uganda) to host the first-ever PPDA Business Exposition 2022.

The exhibition is aimed to promote economic growth, connect businesses to efficient procurement systems, and assist local Small and Medium Enterprises grow and provide companies with a one-of-a-kind platform to inform, educate, and network with various stakeholders.

It also aims to assist providers in capitalizing on public procurement opportunities to accelerate recovery from the socioeconomic impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

CEO FIPRO

According to Mr. Moses Agaba, CEO of Fipro Uganda, suppliers/providers struggle to get contracts or face unfair bidding practices explaining the reason behind the partnership.

“PPDA will be there to address all those concerns and help you to know the procedures of corporate handling,”

The Expo will serve as a one-stop shop for information on businesses and opportunities throughout the country and regions.

With the presence of URA, suppliers and business owners will know how to obtain TIN numbers and tax clearance, and KCCA will address the issue of licensing.

Mr. Agaba believes the Expo will ensure that people do business.

ED PPDA

According to Mr. Benson Turamye, Executive Director of The PPDA, their goal is to improve stakeholder understanding of the PPDA processes and systems.

This is geared toward effective delivering procurement by allowing these companies to exhibit, collaborate, and grow together.

“The Ugandan government annually spends up to 60% of its budget on Public Procurement of a vast range of goods, services, supplies, and works; making the exposition a desirable marketplace for any provider looking for new business opportunities”

Turamye assured Ugandans that Government agencies will highlight their accomplishments and accountability to the public and provide access to services provided by PPDA partners such as URSB, KCCA, URA, and UIA.

He urges all registered providers and officers from government Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Local Governments to reserve exhibition space through the website.

This, he says, will improve businesses and propel national development.

All skill lessons at the expo will be free of charge.
